PALERMO IS TARGETED: Banana Republic x Olivia Palermo’s collection got more than it bargained for Saturday afternoon when it unveiled its see-now-buy-now collection at a fashion presentation at the Fifth Avenue and 18th Street store.
After the models came down the stairway and all the looks were shown, they headed outside to a podium to stand in front of the Fifth Avenue store, where customers had gathered. Animal rights activists showed up with pickets and started screaming about Palermo’s use of fur in her personal life.
“Animal skin is not fashion. Where the hell is your compassion?” they shouted. Philly Stallone, one of the New York animal defenders, said about Palermo, “She uses fur and came out with phone cases made out of baby calves. It was unbelievable to have phone cases trade on a life.”
The models quickly stepped down from the podium and were ushered safely back inside the store by security, and no one was harmed.
The Banana Republic x Olivia Palermo collection uses no fur, nor does Banana Republic in any of its collections.
A Banana Republic spokesman said, “A couple of individuals made an unsuccessful attempt to interrupt the presentation of our fall 2017 collection and new Banana Republic x Olivia Palermo
Marissa Webb, global creative director of Banana Republic since April 2014, has carried forward the brand’s heritage while also infusing it with her own cool-girl aesthetic. For spring, she was inspired by a recent trip to Marrakech — and the result was a dash of spice added into the mix. For her women’s collection, she played with color and texture. It was feminine and fun at the same time.
Webb showed plenty of great summer dresses that were girly and sweet, including a sun dress with eye-catching printed floral bands. Denim came a variety of ways from distressed jeans to a crop top with frayed trim. Webb really pushed the collection forward with a bra top and full skirt look, a men’s wear-striped shirt paired with lace trousers and a jeweled top and striped pant combo. For women who look to Banana Republic for their work wardrobe, she offered a classic pinstripe blazer, a seersucker pantsuit and plenty of men’s wear-inspired shirts.
Much like the women’s looks, the men’s wear offering felt youthful, but it didn’t veer too far from the brand’s heritage. Webb said the design team continues to play with suits. The silhouettes were slimmer, the pant hems were shorter
It’s no surprise that Andy Warhol was ahead of his time. Long before Minions, emoji-inspired fashions and celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe, the artist created one of the most recognizable pieces of contemporary art with the image of a banana. In honor of what would be Warhol’s 87th birthday, a roundup (or should we say a bunch) of cheeky yet chic styles featuring the bright yellow fruit. As Zoe herself would say: “Bananas.”
“It’s about elevating in general,” said Marissa Webb, Banana Republic’s creative director, during the company’s holiday preview. Nearly a month after parent company Gap Inc. outlined drastic strategic measures to turn around its ailing brands, the response was obvious in the holiday lineup, loosely inspired by the Scottish Highlands and Iceland. “It’s about focusing on Banana Republic’s heritage, getting back under it and building the fashion around it,” said Webb. “We’re really looking at quality, fits and color,” which were specifically called out as lacking by executives last month.
A strong outerwear focus was evident in tailored coats in plaids and Harris Tweeds that incorporated color — “the right colors, not just Skittles” said Webb — into the mix of knits, denim, faux fur and full skirts. Yellow, cobalt, pink and red, registered in both the ready-to-wear and accessories, rounded out the traditional navy, black, camel and gray. The lineup reflected Webb’s more fashion-forward vision without abandoning Banana Republic’s mass core. She called out suiting, noting there’s a misconception that the company has ignored officewear, which has been a staple. “We haven’t walked away from suiting,” she said. “It’s about how you style it and wear it today.”
For men’s wear, senior vice president of design Michael Anderson focused on

Minions are cute.
Dogs in minion costumes just leave us speechless.
Watch the pups run around with minion noises hilariously synced to their movements.
The clip’s so frenetically adorable, it’ll have you shouting “BANANA!”

Now that my headline got your attention lol my names Lorna. not Laura or Lauren or Leona lol I'm not a full on goth but I don't like labels anyways. I'm never sure what to put in these things so feel free to ask me anything.
I can be really sarcastic but I do try to watch how bad I get. I love rock music – can't beat a good mosh pit but I never intend going to a festival.
I've been told I can be a bit of a princess but I think I just have values and reasonable expectations. For example I don't wish to be taken round HMV on a date, being told which films have female nudity in them (yes that really happened to me!)
As you can see from the above I get to the point and don't pussy foot around. The only thing a guy absolutely has to have for me is a GSOH so if thats you get in touch x
Ooh and I don't have MSN so please don't ask.
What I’m Looking For
My ideal match has to have a GSOH and be an animal lover. Tats and piercings are a major turn on but not essential. They need to be quite chatty, I can't stand one word answers. And I also can't handle clingy or possessive people.
We spotted this sweet MILF looking for fruit at the swap meet. She was eating an orange slice but soon we found out that she really wanted a couple of big bananas. We knew we could help her out with that so we took her back to the pad and sprayed banana cream all over her cute MILF face. See full-length episode at milfseeker.com.
