SZA “Garden (Say It Like Dat),” Kevin Gates “Change Lanes” & More | Daily Visuals 5.18.18

SZA and Donald Glover are two of the hottest names in the game right now so it’s only right that we see them on screen together.

Though he doesn’t have a speaking role, the man otherwise known as Childish Gambino makes an appearance as SZA’s love interest in the nature themed visuals to “Garden (Say It Like Dat),” where the TDE songstress and Atlanta creator melt in each other’s arms. This would lead to all kinds of relationship rumors had it not been known they were already in serious relationships.

Kevin Gates on the other hand gets all in his own thugged out feelings and seems to be hanging on to his sanity by a thread in his clip to “Change Lanes.”

And just like that Jim Jones is once again ballin’ like it’s 2006!

At least that seems to be the case for his visual to the YFN Lucci assisted “Gotta Play The Game” where Jim and company hit up a strip club and make it rain like Jones was down with the Nor’easter click. Do the strippers get to take home them rain drops or does the entourage bring out them buckets and take home that precipitation that hit the floor? Just wondering.

Fetty Wap meanwhile gets his 2018 on and incorporates social media and Fatboy SSE into his clip for “Love The Way.”

Dave East’s had a hard road on the riches to diamond rings but like Biggie said, real heads do real things and East is one of the realest in the game today.

In his clip to “Prosper” the Harlem rapper takes it back to his projects before rolling in a big boy toy to his mansion with his daughter in tow and a jacket with his baby girl’s likeness printed on it. Now that’s a proud papa.

Tyga meanwhile must be kicking himself over not being Kylie Jenner’s baby daddy and getting that bag but he’s seems content living the bachelor life while he throws a pool part in the Offset assisted clip to “Taste.”

While the new generation of Hip-Hoppers might not care much about yesteryear’s street legends, the previous era of gangsta rappers like Jim Jones still pay homage to their hometown heroes.

For his latest visual “Never Did 3 Quarters” the Harlem representative shouts out street legend Rich Porter before sippin’ on some D’usse and lamping on beach in a robe. Now that’s livin’.

Fetty Wap meanwhile sips on some bottles and flexes some heavy wrists in Snap Dogg’s clip to “How Many.” Is Snap Dogg related to Snoop in some way, shape or form? Just asking.

“B.I.D.” finds Lanez and his crew taking their automobiles to get hand washed by some scantily clad young women before heading off to referee a game of beach volleyball by some bikini clad young women. Lanez is livin’ the life.

Rap’s a young man’s game but Hip-Hop is for people of all ages and the latest OG to continue to show that he’s still got the skills to pay the bills is Twista.

Wiz Khalifa seems to have expensive taste and he’s not even being coy about it.

Politicking in what seems to be a private estate, Wiz Khalifa blows on some smoke and tells you the exact cost of almost everything he has in his clip to “Hunnid Bands.”

Speaking of big paper, the most popular/polarizing rapper in New York, Tekashi 6ix9ine, heads to the Dominican Republic and hands out money to the people living in the struggle for his visuals to “Gotti.” He ain’t give out $ 20 bills either. It was big face Benny’s for everyone. Props.

Sometimes an artist doesn’t have to appear in their video to make an impact on the viewer. Today we get two such concepts.

First we have the visuals to Talib Kweli’s Jay Electronica and Yummy Bingham assisted visuals to “All Of Us” that showcases a Black man and his son’s racially driven struggle and the police abuse that comes with that.

On the other hand Young Thug enlists the help of a few deaf people and has them use sign language to help an entire part of society who isn’t familiar with his work hear him loud and clear in his Nicki Minaj assisted clip to “Anybody.”

Is it just us or does The Weeknd strike you as the type of singer who likes to wallow in sadness in his visuals?

In his somber clip to “Call Out My Name” the Canadian crooner continues that trend by walking down a lonely road after sunset like he just lost his best-friend. Not even an iPod though?

Yo Gotti meanwhile makes the most of the road and rolls in a all-white Lambo like it ain’t no thing in his Chris Brown assisted clip to “Save It For Me.”

Taking a Page from Walt Whitman’s Daily Routine

Before Walt Whitman became the quintessential American poet and author, he was, oddly enough, an advice columnist. In 1858, under the pseudonym Mose Velsor, Whitman had a column in the New York Atlas newspaper giving advice to “manly men” on important topics such as diet, exercise, and beard grooming. The 47,000-word series was only recently rediscovered, 150 years after it first came out. There are 19th century quirks, sure, but the general sentiment still stands for the 21st century man. A collection of 75 of his best quotes on healthy living is now published in Walt Whitman’s Guide to Manly Health & Training. In the excerpt below, some of the poet’s suggestions for a better life — from breakfast to bedtime. –Muri Assunção

Eminem’s latest offering, Revival, has gotten mixed reviews from both loyal fans and new generation Hip-Hoppers alike, but at the end of the day, Eminem’s gonna Eminem and that’s why he gets the props.

For his latest visual to “Framed” the Detroit MC gets his American Psycho on and finds himself on the run in the woods after having escaped from a mental facility for butchering unlucky Trumpian’s that crossed his path. Ok, we made that last part up but facts don’t matter in Trump’s Amerikkka anyway.

Speaking of Donald “Raw Doggin Porn Stars” Trump, have Evangelical Christians given Snoop Doggy Dogg a mulligan for his old Doggy Style ways yet? We don’t know but Snoop continues to spread actual positivity and the power of faith in his latest clip to the Charlie Wilson assisted “One More Day.”

Jean Grae and Quelle Chris on the other hand go extra retro and get the 8-Bit graphic treatment and take us 80’s babies down memory lane in their clip to “Zero.”

Lil Dicky might not be Eminem or even Bubba Sparxxx, but he’s pretty damn funny with the rhymes.

For this Thursday the new age Weird Al Yankovic drops a clip for his Chris Brown assisted “Freaky Friday” in which he and the Virginia crooner switch bodies with each other for a day. Don’t be surprised if Lindsay Lohan feels a ways about this joint and asks for her cut.

In their clip to the Juicy J-featured “Powerglide,” the two-some take to an empty parking lot to do donuts in an American flag dripped Lambo while some young ladies turn up while sitting on 50-inch rims. Seriously how big was them wheels?

That’s exactly what PnB Rock does for his visual to the Russ assisted “Issues” where the two turn up from the studio to the living room that’s inhabited by a bevy of women who seem to be enjoying all the recreational activities available.

And after getting bigged up by some of the industry’s heaviest hitters, Rob Markman went the inspirational route and penned a scribe to his younger self in his clip to “Believe Me.” Should’ve wrote a rhyme telling his younger self to bet it all on the NY Giants in 2008, b. It’s becoming pretty evident that Boosie Badazz takes pride in dropping his visuals and today is no different as the cancer survivor channels the old school for his latest visual and does something we’re surprised he didn’t do before.

Taking it back to the 80’s Hip-Hop era and pays homage to the Hollis, Queens legend LL Cool J by recreating the classic clip to “I’m Bad” complete with the Kangol bucket and warehouse backdrop.

Miguel meanwhile tackles a current political hot button issue and for his clip to “Now” travels to a California desert to perform for a political rally near the Adelanto High Desert Detention Center for immigrants. Much love and respect for that.

Meek Mill done had his freedom unnecessarily taken from him a few weeks back but at least he’s got some work in the chamber to appease his fans while he gets through his bid.

This time around the Philadelphia rapper comes through with a visual for “Fall Thru” where he shows what kind of woman it takes to become a special part of his life i.e. cooking, smoking, and apparently an old ass air conditioner. We guess women with central air might be a bit too bougie for his taste.

For Ferg’s A$ AP Rocky’s assisted clip to “The Matress” the Harlem mob boys make the most of every matress they come by from the abandoned one in the alley to the high priced joints in a Mattress Firm. We wonder how much they had to pay to hop on those beds all night long.

Boosie Badazz has got a story to tell and if you’ve been paying attention to his music you’d know that his life is basically an open book.

To drive that point home, the Banton Rouge rapper keeps the clip to his cut “Dirty Diary” simple and simply lays down on what seems to be a red velvet surface and scribbles into his personal journal. Kinda reminds us of Brandy’s “Sittin’ In My Room” but a lot less happy.

Young Dolph meanwhile prefers to have some exotic company around him and for his visuals to “Point Across” is joined by a bevy of young ladies dinner, drinks and the warmth of a pit fire.
