LVMH Draws Crowds With Fourth Edition of Open-Doors Event

PARIS — The long queues in front of leading luxury stores in Paris this weekend might suggest they were holding the high-end equivalent of a Black Friday sale.
But the crowds gathered outside Dior headquarters on Avenue Montaigne, the Guerlain flagship on Avenue des Champs-Elysées or the Chaumet salons on Place Vendôme weren’t looking to part with any cash — just to catch a glimpse behind the scenes of some of the 70 brands that form LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton.
From Oct. 12 to 14, the world’s biggest luxury group held the fourth edition of its Journées Particulières open-doors event, which gives members of the public worldwide a rare opportunity to meet the craftspeople who make everything from Louis Vuitton handbags to Tag Heuer watches and Berluti shoes.
The event is the brainchild of Antoine Arnault, head of communication and image of LVMH, who launched the biennial initiative in 2011 to counter a perception that the group was only interested in making money. It has steadily grown in size, with this year’s edition drawing a record 180,000 visitors, up from 145,000 in 2016.
Arnault kicked off proceedings with a cocktail party on Thursday at the group’s headquarters, where he posed with his father,

Women’s March Draws Tens of Thousands

The knitted, pink “pussy” hats are back — at least for the weekend.
More than 120,000 protesters, clusters of which wore the ugly but eye-catching pink hats, gathered in New York and tens of thousands in dozens of other cities across the U.S. for the second Women’s March.
As in 2016’s march, which drew an estimated 2.4 million people in various major cities, anti-Trump sentiment was rife among those taking part in the New York, but with the recent spate of sexual harassment and assault claims against men in film, television and media, what’s now being called the #metoo movement was well represented, along with a range of other social issues, like Black Lives Matter, transgender rights and support for teachers unions.

After police opened up a barricade on 62nd Street and Broadway in order to relieve a massive bottle neck of people trying to get to Central Park, a young woman came upon the main throng of slow-moving protesters with an excited, “This is lit!”
In a city where shoulder checking is a typical part of the daily commute, marchers were nothing if not polite. There was bonding over pins and signs; gentle “excuse me’s” and apologies

Public Sex Draws A Crowd

I was hanging out with my girlfriend Julie during a recent trip to Miami. We were both horny as hell so we went out to the balcony of our hotel room to see if there were any hot guys down at the pool. We were hoping to find a hot stud that we could bring up to our room to satisfy our needs. As we were checking out the pool I noticed one of the construction workers in the building next to us taking our picture.

Well, you know Julie and I are never ones to shy away from a camera. We just laughed and waved and then decided to put on a little show for the guys working in the building next door. We were both dying to have a good orgasm anyway so why not get off right in front of all these guys who were already cheering us on.

We didnt waste any time striping each other naked and we then took turns getting each other off right there on the balcony as all those strangers watched! What can I say, Im just a natural born exhibitionist! Oh yeah, we finally made it down to the pool later that afternoon but thats a story for another day!

Marisa Berenson Draws Crowd at Schiaparelli Book Signing

FAMILY TIES: A mix of fashion folk and high society gathered at Christie’s in Paris on Monday night for a book signing session by Marisa Berenson for her illustrated tome “Elsa Schiaparelli’s Private Album.”
Haider Ackermann, Katia Toledano, Elie Top, Catherine Baba, Mathilde Meyer, hairdresser Alexandre Zouari and veteran actor Jean Rochefort joined the throng on the first floor of the auction house, where large-scale prints from its upcoming “Photographs – Icons & Style” sale were on show. Sitting underneath a portrait of Icelandic singer Björk by Stéphane Sednaoui, Berenson happily autographed a pile of books with her own personal flourish.
“I do like a little sketch of myself in a heart,” she said in a telephone interview the morning after the event. “I do a little heart shape with big eyes and frizzy hair. By the time I’d done 200 of them, they looked a little strange. They were getting very wonky,” she added with a laugh.
Released late last year, the book contains dozens of photographs showing the private side of Schiaparelli, who was Berenson’s grandmother.
“They’re all personal pictures of her intimate life, her family, her loves, her dogs. It’s much more of a personal book than anything that’s been published and

‘Blood Mirror’ Art Installation Draws Attention To FDA Gay Blood Ban

One artist is making a bold statement about the anti-gay stigma still prevalent in the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) policy regarding blood donation.

Jordan Eagles assembled a group of nine queer men with a diverse array of stories to take part in his project “Blood Mirror.” Eagles used the blood these men donated to construct an art installation that sends a powerful message about the lives that could have been saved if the FDA’s policy on blood donation from men who have sex with men (MSM) were different.

A press release sent to The Huffington Post notes:

The men who donated their blood to this project include: An 88-year-old openly gay priest; A Nigerian gay rights activist on political asylum in the U.S.; A Co-Founder of Gay Men’s Health Crisis (GMHC); The CEO of GMHC; An identical gay twin whose straight brother is eligible to donate; A captain in the Army who served two terms in Iraq and was discharged under “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” (reinstated to service in 2014); A married transgender male couple, and; A bisexual father of two. Dr. Howard Grossman, former director of the American Academy of HIV Medicine, was the medical supervisor on the project, as well as a blood donor. Each man is currently ineligible to donate blood under the FDA’s current policy—but since they cannot donate their blood to save lives, they’ve chosen to donate their blood for art.

Last year the FDA proposed altering its full ban on blood donation from MSM individuals to one that only requires men to have not engaged in sex with other men for 12 months prior to their donation. This change is slated to go into effect in July 2015, but still angers many who say that the entire ban should be lifted.

Activist and filmmaker Leo Herrera documented the story behind “Blood Mirror” in conjunction with World Blood Donor Day on June 14.

“I wanted to create a sculpture that would become a time capsule, documenting this moment in time, while showing that this blood could have been used to save lives,” Eagles said in a statement sent to The Huffington Post. “This discriminatory policy is part of our gay history and part of our nation’s history, and the sculpture asks us to reflect on discrimination in our country, as well as the homophobia that exists around the world. For me, the sculpture is a work in progress. It will never be finished until the FDA’s blood donation policy is fair for all people.”

Check out “Blood Mirror” in the video above.

“Blood Mirror” will be on view at American University Museum at The Katzen Arts Center, Washington, D.C. from September 12th to October 18, 2015, with works created in collaboration with Leo Herrera, The Carry Nation, and Jonny Cota of SKINGRAFT.

Korean pop music concert draws thousands of Japanese fans

Thousands of fans have turned out near Tokyo to see their favorite “K-pop” stars in a display of how popular South Korean pop music is in Japan despite years of chilled relations between the two countries. Groups such as INFINITE, Block B, GOT7, Supernova, SISTAR were among the musicians performing at the indoor Saitama Super Arena for their showcase concert “M Countdown”. Korean pop has made major strides in the Japanese music market, the world’s second largest after the United States, in the last five years. The structure of Korea’s relatively small music market means the singers, known for their young, cool image and distinct dance choreography, search for success abroad.

Verbier Festival draws the elites – and music lovers too

Festivalgoers look at a noticeboard listing details of the day's events at the Verbier FestivalBy Michael Roddy VERBIER Switzerland (Reuters) – There are thousands of music festivals around Europe every summer, but only one lays claim to being held at the highest altitude and that's the one in the Swiss ski resort of Verbier, sometimes called the Davos of the music world. Argentine-born piano star Martha Argerich is a regular, and this year the big names have included Russian pianist Evgeny Kissin, British cellist Steven Isserlis and American violinist Joshua Bell. The three-week-long Verbier Festival, which runs from July until August 3, draws the moneyed elites and big corporate sponsors. George Clooney's smiling face is a fixture around the town as the brand ambassador for food giant Nestle's Nespresso coffee line, while Swiss private banker Julius Baer is another sponsor.
