Obviously someone at adidas wasn’t wearing their thinking cap when curating a nod to African Americans. To many, A pair of mayonnaise flavored shoes were insensitive to say the least.
As per Hypebeast the sporting goods manufacturer definitely took a cultural loss when it came to their Black History Month collection. Included in the drop was a UltraBOOST model which in theory would make sense given it is one of their most popular sellers. Problem was it was an all white silhouette AND was named “UNCAGED”. Naturally the move got a huge side eye from sneaker enthusiasts and anybody with a bit of common sense alike.
Considering the set were made in the spirit of “Celebrating Black Culture” adidas released a formal statement apologizing for the huge faux pas.
“Adidas released a new collection in celebration of Black History Month featuring designs inspired by the Harlem Renaissance. It includes footwear and apparel across a variety of categories. Toward the latter stages of the design process, we added a running shoe to the collection that we later felt did not reflect the spirit or philosophy of how adidas believes we should recognize and honor Black History Month. After careful consideration, we have decided to withdraw the product from the collection.”
The sneaker has since been pulled. Other feet pieces included in the collection include re-invisioned versions of the Dame 5, Harden Vol. 3 and a Harlem inspired UltraBOOST. The adidas Black History Month went on sale starting February 5 here.

This latest addition to the acclaimed From The Vaults series was filmed at the San Jose Arena on The Rolling Stones’ No Security tour, which ran from January to June 1999 through North America and Europe. It followed on from the colossal Bridges To Babylon tour and took its name from the “No Security” live album recorded on that 1997/98 tour. In reaction to the huge stadiums played on Bridges To Babylon the conscious decision was made to book the band into smaller venues for the initial North American leg of the No Security tour. This show was filmed in April 1999 in front of an audience of a little over 30,000 (intimate by Rolling Stones standards!) at the end of the North American dates. Previously unreleased, it captures the band in top form playing a set that spans from mid-sixties hit singles up to the then current Bridges To Babylon album.

Elon Musktriggered a fraud investigation and a fine from the Securities Exchange Commission after he fired off a tweet that he was going to take his company Tesla public at $ 420 per share. At the time, the tweet was made with his ex-girlfriendGrimes and Azealia Banksin his presence and investors in a lawsuit against him with to subpoena the women but Musk’s legal team is hoping to block the move.
“It is readily apparent that this is more of an effort to sensationalize these proceedings than a legitimate attempt to preserve evidence,” attorney Dean Kristy said in a filing Thursday in federal court in San Francisco.
The Tesla shareholders say the former girlfriend, Canadian singer Claire Elise Boucher, also known as Grimes, may have first-hand knowledge about what Musk was thinking Aug. 7 when he shocked the world with a tweet: “Am considering taking Tesla private at $ 420. Funding secured.”
The investors claim Musk and Tesla manipulated the company’s share price. They allege Musk lied about funding to push the shares higher and ambush short sellers betting against the company.
The investors cite news media accounts placing Musk in the company of Boucher, and rapper Azealia Banks, around the time of the tweet. They contend it’s not unreasonable to subpoena Boucher and Banks to ensure the preservation of anything in writing that might be relevant to the lawsuit — Twitter and Instagram messages in particular.
Banks responded to news of the filing by Musk’s attorney, writing, “This is going to get extremely ugly” before deleting the post.

Three students from the Pratt Institute of Design are under the spotlight. Their senior thesis projects are being showcased at the Ralph Pucci International showroom, 44 West 18th Street, through Dec. 14.
“We are always looking for what’s new, what’s next,” said Ralph Pucci. “The kids are not afraid to take creative chances. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. But the result is always fresh and original.”
Pucci, a member of the board of directors at Pratt, picked three of his favorite collections from last spring’s senior student show, to showcase on his new mannequins, for visual market week and for several days after.
“Ralph recognizes superior talent at Pratt,” said Jennifer Minniti, chairwoman of Pratt Institute School of Design. “These student designs are really showroom ready. We prefer to challenge the norms and provide new cultural messaging through fashion.”
Rachel Lee, 22, who lives in Brooklyn and now works at Gap Inc. in design, has eight mannequins at the Pucci showroom. “The concept for my thesis is based on my family,” Lee said. “They’re from New Orleans and I wanted to connect with the city. It’s all about color, humor and fun. My mom’s side of the family is from there. Last June,

Counting U2 among its fans, the band has built up a passionate fan base with its epic, string-laden music and extraordinary live performances. Live from Walt Disney Concert Hall is a documentary film chronicling the lead-up to the last of 354 shows in support of the the group's debut album. To mark the occasion, they were joined onstage by a variety of performers, including a world-class string quartet, a children's choir, a high school marching band, horn players, visual artists, and Mexican folkorico dancers. In addition to never-before-recorded new tracks and cover versions of songs by the Ramones, the Magnetic Fields, and Q Lazzarus, the concert film offers an intimate, behind-the-scenes look at the exhaustive rehearsals and preparation that went into putting on the show at the world-famous, Frank Gehry-designed venue, home of the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
