‘Dumbo’ gets Disney live-action parade off to high-flying start

“Dumbo” achieves a minor miracle, taking a challenging animated classic and completely refashioning it into an effective, often-charming live-action movie. Director Tim Burton seemed like an unorthodox choice for the assignment, but the lead entry in this year’s Disney adaptation parade sets the bar nearly as high as an elephant’s eye for “Aladdin” and “The Lion King.”

First Image, Directors Revealed For Disney’s Live-Action ‘Star Wars The Mandalorin’

Star Wars 'The Mandalorin'

It was just two days ago we learned what Disney’s live-action Star Wars is called The Mandalorian. Now we have a new image to go with that announcement as well as an impressive list of directors who will helm episodes.

We already know that Jon Favreau is writing and executive producing the show that is set to premiere sometime next year on Disney’s unnamed streaming service. The image of The Mandalorian which is definitely giving off Boba Fett vibes was shared by the Star Wars website yesterday (Oct 5).

We also learned that the show will have a fascinating list of directors lined up. Dave Filoni (Clone Wars) who will kick things off by directing the premiere episode,  Rick Famuyiwa (Dope), Bryce Dallas Howard (Solemates), Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok, What We Do In The Shadows) and Deborah Chow (The High Cost of Living, Better Call Saul, Man in the High Castle) will follow.

As far as the talent that will help bring the show to life, that has not been revealed but with an impressive $ 100 million+ budget we are sure they can find some amazing actors and actresses. As far as plot details all we have to go on is the time period between the fall of the Empire and before the rise of The First Order and that will it take place in the outer reaches of the galaxy.

Sounds interesting, you can now add us to list of those intrigued about the show. Maybe this show will lure people to Disney’s streaming service that question is will it make you want you to add another bill to countless other ones you already have?

We are looking forward to more information about this show coming out over time.

A New Live-Action Street Fighter TV Series Is In Development

Street Fighter 5

Decades after Street Fighter II took the arcade scene by storm and made quarters the most popular form of currency in the modern world according to teenagers, eOne (Entertainment One) is attempting to once again bring a live action adaptation of the video game franchise to life (that 90’s Van Damn movie version was all kinds of low budget struggle).

Deadline is reporting that eOne/Mark Gordon has struck a deal to finance, develop, and produce a new TV series based on one of the most iconic video games in history and is teaming with the brains behind the live-action web series Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist, Joey Ansah, Jacqueline Quella and Mark Wooding. In a statement about the upcoming project Gordon expressed excitement and awareness of just how important this new venture is not only to himself and his team, but to the legion of fans awaiting the final product.

“Street Fighter is a global tour de force franchise, having garnered immense worldwide commercial success and built a vast devoted fanbase that has only grown through its 30 year legacy. We are thrilled to be teaming up with Joey, Jacqueline and Mark, who are already so deeply connected to this brand, to bring this adored story to television audiences everywhere,” said Mark Gordon, eOne’s President and Chief Content Officer, Film, Television and Digital. “A particular strength of Street Fighteris the wide range of ethnically diverse characters and powerful women featured in the game. It will allow us to build an inclusive and engaging TV universe.”

According to the Deadline, the new series will center around the theme of the OG game Street Fighter II: The World Warrior, in which the core four characters of the game, Ryu, Ken, Guile and Chun-Li, participate in the tournament with the sole purpose of taking down M. Bison and his criminal organization, Shadaloo. Along the way they cross paths with various warriors from all parts of the world such as the Brazilian beast man, Blanka, the Russian bear wrestler, Zangief, and the Indian Mr. Fantastic, Dhalism.

No word yet on when the series is set to go into production or when it’s going to debut but best believe if they don’t get this one right Street Fighter fanatics might just revolt and give up any hope on their favorite video game franchise ever getting it’s live-action just due.

Watch The First Trailer For Disney's Live-Action 'Cinderella'

The first trailer for Disney’s live-action “Cinderella” is here, and it’s mostly just a 360 degree shot of the glass slipper (which looks like something you could purchase at Nasty Gal and apparently has the power to turn butterflies to gold).

Though this 1:16 minute glance at a slowly-rotating shoe is not especially revelatory, we do know that come March 2015, “Ella” (Lily James) will face off with none other than Cate Blanchett as her evil step mother. Which, based on “Blue Jasmine” (and the fact that her entrance involves a cat on a leash), will be fantastically twisted and just generally the best.
