LONDON — British men’s wear brand Ben Sherman has signed a multi-year agreement as an official supporter of Team GB for the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympic Games, and beyond. An announcement is expected Monday.
The clothing brand, known for its slim-fitting silhouettes, will create exclusive looks to be worn by the British athletes during the official opening ceremony. It will also create an additional Olympic capsule collection for retail in May 2020. Proceeds from the sales will support British Olympians.
Mark Williams, creative director of Ben Sherman said: “The design elements will hold true to the spirit of the Olympics and Great Britain. We want the athletes to feel an immense sense of achievement and unity while representing the nation during the opening ceremony.”

This is the second time
Nike is getting artistic for Earth Day thanks to a collaboration with artist Steven Harrington.
The sports giant teamed with the Los Angeles-based painter to create a capsule collection intended to inspire love for the planet. Harrington is best known for his colorful California-inspired psychedelic pop works that often include dog and palm tree characters, an aesthetic he transferred to three Nike footwear models.
The Nike Flyleather by Steven Harrington collection includes an Air Force 1, a Blazer and a Cortez, each of which were created using Nike Flyleather, a proprietary sustainable material that uses at least 50 percent recycled leather.
Harrington said Nike reached out to him about a year ago to see if he’d be interested in working on the project, “and when it hit my desk, I was so excited,” he said. “I’m such a fan of the brand and the topic itself.”
Although he has worked with Nike in the past, the “different scope” of this project, and its overriding message about sustainability really hit home.

BRANCHING OUT: Gentle Monster, the buzzy South Korean label known for futuristic, high-end eyewear and peculiar retail concepts — a London store features kung fu-fighting aliens — has teamed with Huawei for connected eyewear set to launch this summer.
The new accessory was introduced at the tail end of a splashy smartphone launch by the Chinese tech giant in Paris on Tuesday, which was mostly focused on the power of the phone’s camera, but also included a power bank, ear buds and a new triathlon mode for its smart watches. The eyewear was introduced as “one more stylish thing.”
“You can pick up a phone call when your phone is in your pocket or your bag,” said Richard Yu, chief executive officer of the Chinese tech giant’s consumer business group, strolling across a stage in front of a colossal screen. “It’s a new fusion of fashion and technologies,” he added.
Hankook Kim, the soft-spoken cofounder and ceo of Gentle Monster, also took to the stage, explaining that the label’s 18 stores are different — each with an individual and elaborate theme, built by in-house design teams — and showing images of futuristic eyewear.

Donna Karan has teamed with Mashonda Tifrere’s nonprofit Art Lead Her to put on an all-women exhibit called “King Woman” at Karan’s store and community space Urban Zen.
Pieces from Reisha Perlmutter, Delphine Diallo, Swoon and 12 other emerging and midcareer artists lined the walls of Urban Zen during a recent visit. Tifrere, dressed all in black just like Karan, pointed out one piece that especially moved her by Perlmutter. It’s a painting of a woman with vitiligo, her face peering above a pool of water in which her body’s submerged. Her hair is wet and slicked back.
“Reisha wanted to portray the woman in the portrait as strong and beautiful in her own skin,” Tifrere said. “On opening night, the woman came, and when she saw her picture hanging on the wall, she started bawling.”
There are individual stories like this one behind most of the pieces included in “King Woman”; Tifrere, who curated the showing, said it was imperative to forge relationships with the artists after selecting them to be part of the exhibition. She added she’d found all of them by looking around on Google and Instagram, then meeting them in person at art fairs.

Starting Monday, the Ellen MacArthur Foundation is teaming with the New York City Department of Sanitation and NYC Economic Development Corp. for a citywide social media campaign titled #WearNext in order to reduce the amount of clothing being dumped in landfills.
An online map created by the NYC Department of Sanitation will guide people to more than 1,100 locations across the city where they can take clothes they no longer wear. Participating stores and other locations across the city will act as drop-off points.
The campaign, which runs through June 12, also encourages consumers to find ways to repair, reuse, resell or swap old clothing, and invites participants to share their stories on social media using the #WearNext hashtag.
Every year, New York City dumps 200 million pounds of clothing in landfills. Globally, 73 percent of the materials used to produce clothing are landfilled or burned at the end of their life, while less than 1 percent of old clothing goes on to be used to make new clothing.
Make Fashion Circular is an initiative of U.K. charity The Ellen MacArthur Foundation and is leading international efforts to establish a circular economy for fashion.
The effort has been initiated by such brands as ASOS, Athleta,
Diane von Furstenberg and mixed-media artist Ashley Longshore are collaborating on a curated art collection of extraordinary women for International Women’s Month.
After meeting Longshore over tea in London in December, von Furstenberg had the idea to put together a collection of Longshore’s art. She gave Longshore a list of women who have inspired her through their energy and achievements.
“I was immediately impressed by Ashley’s contagious enthusiasm and vibrant talent,” said von Furstenberg. “I knew she was a ‘Woman in Charge,’ and I felt she would be perfect to curate our next inspiration room especially with International Women’s Month approaching. The collaboration felt seamless.”
Longshore, who is based in New Orleans, painted a collection of 37 portraits of such women as Ruth Bader Ginsberg, Jackie Kennedy, Cleopatra, Marlene Dietrich, Oprah Winfrey, Gloria Steinem, Michelle Obama, Elizabeth Taylor, Maya Angelou, Whitney Wolfe Herd and Rosa Parks, some wearing von Furstenberg’s most iconic prints and designs. Italian luxury accessories brand Borbonese is launching a project in collaboration with several international schools aimed at expanding its horizons and dialoguing with the new generation of creative minds in order to reach a younger audience.
Called Officina Borbonese, the project kicks off this month in a partnership with Milanese fashion school Istituto Marangoni. About 70 students from the master’s programs in Fashion & Luxury Brand Management and Fashion Start Up will be selected to study and analyze the Borbonese brand and will be asked to pitch new ideas in terms of style, traditional and digital communication, as well as marketing strategies focused on both European and international markets, such as India, China and Korea.
“Officina Borbonese was born to find a contemporary way to communicate the brand’s core values,” said Borbonese chief executive officer Alessandro Pescara. “We would like Officina Borbonese to be a laboratory of both creative ideas and product research. The rapper’s lawyer, Lance Lazarro, tells TMZ … he’s putting a bail package together for the rapper in hopes of getting him sprung from the federal prison facility where he’s being held, so he can enjoy some freedom until his trial begins in September.
We’re told the plan is to ask the court to set 69’s bail at $ 1.5 million, and Lazarro will also make the case that Tekashi’s not a danger to the community … nor is he a flight risk.

As part of an ongoing effort to showcase artistic programs, Spring Place will be staging “Infoxication” Monday night.
The 50-minute multidisciplinary performance will feature art, music, dance and technology. The theme is technology’s presence in our lives. Infoxication is the latest arts-related collaboration at Spring, with the American Ballet Theatre and the Water Miller Center being others. Monday’s will be the first full production, and the largest one to date, with more than 20 collaborators, according to Spring Place’s art director, Roya Sachs. The full immersive experience includes product support from Google — Pixelbooks and Pixel phones. “It’s definitely in the vein of trying to create these more impactful and interactive programming and performances,” Sachs said.
The four-part experience is meant to take audience members on a visual, physical and mental journey. Ticket holders will learn the story of “waking, working, wanting and withdrawing.”
Collaborators include choreographer Dusan Tynek, a world premier composition by Danielle Eva Schwob, live body art by Heather Hansen, and performances by PubliQuartet and cellist Inbal Segev. BlANCAS INVESTIGATION AND ANGELA’S JIMENEZ CONNECTION
Officer Blanca Rodriguez continues to put the pressure on Angela as she discovers more connections between Ray Ray and Raina’s murders. Her investigation brings her to a Detective Leary who reveals Tariq’s inconsistent account of what happened that night. Everywhere Blanca turns, Angela is involved. Angela knows it’s only a matter of time before Blanca discovers the truth, so after meeting with Tasha to devise a game plan, she figures out a temporary solution. Angela sends Donovan to transfer all information regarding Raymond Jones to federal custody and away from Blanca’s jurisdiction. If Blanca wants to solve this case and discover Angela’s true motives, she’ll have to go about it another way.
Meanwhile, Angela has a major breakthrough in the Jimenez investigation. She discovers that Alicia Jimenez isn’t Diego’s lover, but his sister and the other command of the Jimenez cartel. She also has a new love interest in Steve Tampio from D.C. Angela hasn’t faired well with work romance before so I expect this to go extremely well…
DRE AND DIEGO CREATE A NEW ORG CHART
Dre holds a meeting with the organization to officially install Arturo as the new Toros Locos leader. Diego is there to witness the meeting and questions whether Lorenzo’s supporters will acknowledge this new regime. Arturo invites Diego to see how discipline is applied to the group. Dre cautions against it but Diego isn’t hearing it. The Jimenez don’t really give two f*cks about law enforcement, tact, or anything else. 2-Bit and Spanky are tight because Dre allowed Arturo to take the credit for the Lorenzo hit.
Diego watches as Arturo kills the traitors in the Toros Locos but continues to wonder how Arturo knew about Lorenzo’s coup. TIP-OFF: Dirk Bikkembergs is reconnecting with the soccer world.
During the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2018, running from June 14 to July 15, the brand will be the official provider of the Russian soccer team’s off-the-field uniforms.
The team’s players and technical staff will wear a made-to-measure light stretch wool navy suit designed by Dirk Bikkembergs creative director Lee Wood. The uniform will include a three-button jacket, pants with a regular fit, a white shirt and a silk tie showing the brand’s logo. A leather black belt and a pair of brogues will complete the outfit.
“I’m very happy to reconnect the brand with the world of sports,” said Wood, who joined the company in 2016 after 16 years spent working alongside Donatella Versace. “The suits are tailored for a masculine athletic man.”
Previously, the Dirk Bikkembergs brand delivered the official uniforms for Milan-based Inter soccer team and developed several collaborations with the Malaga team and the Slovenian national team.
Bloomingdale’s is doing its part to support Pride month.
The retailer has teamed with Emil Wilbekin, founder of Native Son, to create a limited-edition Pride capsule collection. The collection consists of T-shirts and hats that feature Pride-specific graphics with messages of equal rights, self-affirmation and love.
The items are priced between $ 34 and $ 75 with 10 percent of the proceeds being donated to the Native Son Foundation, an association where the gay male black community can create a safe space for fellowship, celebration and empowerment.
“Partnering with Bloomingdale’s on this Native Son Pride capsule collection is a brilliant collaboration that amplifies the messaging and mission of inspiration and empowerment for black gay men and the LGBTQ+ community,” Wilbekin said. “It’s about being proud of who we are, acceptance, equality and inclusion in the world, and supporting gender diversity.”

Swimwear brand Solid & Striped is releasing a collaboration and accompanying campaign that’ll give Victoria’s Secret and Sports Illustrated’s swimsuit issue a run for their money. Solid & Striped enlisted 13 major models — Lily Aldridge, Hailey Clauson, Jourdan Dunn, Hannah Ferguson, Isabeli Fontana, Toni Garrn, Jessica Hart, Elsa Hosk, Eniko Mihalik, Carolyn Murphy, Barbara Palvin, Natasha Poly and Josephine Skriver — to design a suit for the collection. Along with Uncle Snoop’s Merry Jane cannabis company, the fast food chain will be offering “Munchie Meal Deals” at a price point that will make sense for stoners.
As California prepares for legal recreational pot on Jan. 1, the fast-food chain is partnering with a digital media company backed by rapper Snoop Dogg on a new “munchie” meal aimed at cannabis enthusiasts. While marijuana’s connection to fast food is well-established, Jack in the Box will become the first national chain to explicitly embrace the drug.
The “Merry Munchie Meal,” which will be available at three California locations for a week in January for $ 4.20, features two tacos, french fries, onion rings, five mini churros, three chicken strips and a small drink. The price isn’t random: The number 420 is used as a code by potheads.
If it becomes a hit with consumers, the chain would be nuts not to expand the meal deal but do expect uptight folks who hate the devil’s lettuce to get up in arms about it if so.
