Jessica Biel, Gaiam Unveil New Fitness Brand for Sequential

The collaboration between actress, producer and activist Jessica Biel and Gaiam, the yoga, fitness and wellness brand, was revealed Thursday night at The One Hotel Brooklyn Bridge in Brooklyn, N.Y. The event marked the first celebrity-created line for Gaiam, a division of Sequential Brands Group Inc., since 2016, as part of a multiyear partnership with Biel.
“She [Jessica] has been a true collaborator, thoughtfully codesigning the capsule collection with a keen focus on the functionality of each style,” said Eddie Esses, president of Sequential’s active division. “She really pushed to ensure each piece would fit seamlessly into busy modern lifestyles.”
During the event, the 36-year-old Biel said she was grateful for the partnership. “This is a really authentic partnership for me, yoga and wellness are a huge part of my personal life and have been for a long time. I wanted something that women could feel good in whether they are doing yoga, working out or just running errands, playing with their kids or simply lounging,” said Biel, who has a three-year-old son with husband Justin Timberlake. She said the idea was to create something versatile that blends fashion elements with comfort and function and is accessible for every lifestyle.

Bethenny Frankel to Unveil Skinnygirl Jeans

NEW YORK — It’s the “little moments” that Bethenny Frankel is most drawn to in her first fashion venture.
This week, the reality show star and entrepreneur will finally reveal her Skinnygirl Jeans collection with a multipronged launch including in-store appearances and a major social media push.
“I call them ‘little moments,’” she said during a last-minute line review at the One Jeanswear Group Seventh Avenue offices here last week. She pointed to a red stripe down the side of the skinny jeans she was wearing as well as the studs, zippers and chains that embellished other pieces in the line. “I like a detail,” she said. “But this is not too over the top.”
A jean with glitter embedded in the fabric that Frankel said is “understated but still sparkles,” as well as models with unfinished edges, also set the collection apart in the crowded jeanswear market, she believes.
Skinnygirl Jeans offers knit tops and jackets as well, which also have details that expand the collection beyond basics. A sweatshirt in orange is cropped and has lacing on the sleeves as well as zippers on the bottom. And a denim jacket has zippered sleeves.

EXCLUSIVE: Cartier to Unveil Precious Garage Concept at New York Fashion Week

Cartier will unveil its Precious Garage concept during New York Fashion Week, an installation done for the French jeweler by New York-based artist Desi Santiago.
The installation will usher in new iterations of the brand’s Juste un Clou and Écrou de Cartier collections, beginning with a party on Sept. 6 at Cartier’s Fifth Avenue mansion hosted by Mercedes Abramo, president and chief executive officer of Cartier North America, and Bernadette Hitt, director of the Cartier mansion.
Santiago has made a name for himself bridging art and fashion, staging performance and installation-based exhibitions at New York’s MoMa PS-1 and Art Basel Miami. He previously collaborated with the iconic French jeweler on a project at Salone del Mobile in Milan last year.
The Juste un Clou was created in the Seventies by Cartier designer Aldo Cipullo in New York. Using his concept of hardware as jewelry, Cipullo first created the Love Bracelet, and later the Juste un Clou, which reconceptualizes a nail as a piece of jewelry. In 2017, the brand reimagined Cipullo’s hardware concept with the Ecrou de Cartier, which interprets the head of a nut and screw as a bracelet and ring.

Ermenegildo Zegna to Unveil Beachwear Collection in Australia

SYDNEY — Ermenegildo Zegna will unveil its first dedicated beachwear collection in Australia on Dec. 8, ahead of a global release in early 2018.
Designed by Ermenegildo Zegna artistic director Alessandro Sartori, the debut collection is comprised of 67 stockkeeping units including boxer shorts, tailored swim trunks, polo and boat-neck shirts and beach accessories such as towels and beach totes.
Prices range from 90 Australian dollars, or $ 68 at current exchange, for a basic fly front trunk to 470 Australian dollars, or $ 357, for a pair of tailored trunks — which incorporate a dedicated waterproof pochette for keys or money — and reach 925 Australian dollars, or $ 703, for a striped beach tote. There are three different towels in the collection, priced from 285 to 455 Australian dollars, or $ 217 to $ 346.
The collection will be available exclusively through Ermenegildo Zegna’s three Australian flagships in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane and Zegna’s Australian online store.
The early release in the Australian market was designed to capitalize on the holiday season and southern hemisphere summer, which kicks off on Dec. 1, the company said.
Produced by the Carisma Group’s textile and fashion manufacturer Isa Seta SpA in Milan, which also makes Zegna’s underwear, the collection utilizes lightweight technical fabrics

Marco Zanini to Unveil Second Chapter of The Santoni Edited Collection

MILAN — Marco Zanini is gearing up to present on Thursday, during the upcoming Milan Fashion Week, the second chapter of his collaboration with Italian footwear brand Santoni.
For the occasion, the designer has developed a book, titled “Edited: Trip,” which he showed exclusively to WWD on Monday morning.
“I’m passionate about books and I think that a book is such a noble object,” said Zanini, adding that “Edited” is definitely a complement to the collection he will present on Thursday and reflects an analogical approach to it. “It is a vehicle of messages reinforcing the ideas behind the collection, making everything more clear.”

For the book, Zanini teamed with photographers Tim Hill and James Aubrey Finnigan, who shot a group of young male and female models in the gardens and interiors of a charming Sixties’ estate on the shores of Lake Como.
The images, which in keeping with the photographer duo’s styles overlap fantasy and reality, are juxtaposed in the book by pages reproducing the special surfaces of the marble samples which Milanese architect Piero Portaluppi collected during his life.

Missoni, Ferragamo and More to Unveil Short Films at Milan Fashion Film Festival

Dries Van Noten, Gucci, Kenzo, Missoni, L’Oréal, Chloé, Salvatore Ferragamo, Etro and Valentino are just a few of the international labels that will participate in the upcoming Milan Fashion Festival, running Sept. 20-22.
Conceived and directed by Kean Etro’s wife, the Argentinian Constanza Cavalli Etro, the event, at its second edition, will be held at a new location, the city’s historical Anteo Spaziocinema theater. More than 200 short films, selected among the 600 that have been submitted, will be screened during the three-day event. The screening schedule will include films by already established directors and upcoming talents.
“Here, big names help new ones,” said Cavalli Etro. “The fact that big brands and film directors take part to the project next to new names helps the festival and upcoming talents to get the right visibility.”
A jury, including photographer Rankin, Vogue Italia’s editor in chief Franca Sozzani and producer Lisa Immordino Vreeland, among others, will assign 13 different awards to the film directors participating.
In addition, starting from Tuesday, anyone will be able to vote their favorite fashion film on the Fashion Film Festival’s Web site.
Also, microfashion films of 15 seconds, fitting social network’s standards, will be shown in one of the theater’s rooms.
