Anderson .Paak Brings The Soul In 2 New Songs | Wired Tracks 11.9.15

Ask your favorite rapper which artist is next to blow up, and you’re sure to hear West Coast crooner and producer Anderson .Paak’s name come up at least once (or multiple times according to this video).

Listeners echo similar sentiments, as .Paak made waves last year via his free album Venice and with tracks like his Knxwledge collab “Suede.” But 2015 brought a major win in a major role on Dr. Dre’s Compton album (the story was detailed by LA Weekly). Now comes a pair of new releases from .Paak titled “The Season/Carry Me” and “Am I Wrong,” the former of which Dre premiered on Beats 1 Radio.

9th Wonder produced the first half of “The Season/Carry Me,” while Callum Connar handled the second part. Blended Babies crafted the sonics on “Am I Wrong.”

Stream both records in Wired Tracks below, where songs from Wiz Khalifa, couple Lil Durk & Dej Loaf, Juicy J, and more below.

Janelle Monae & Wondaland Records Scream #BlackLivesMatter On “Talmbout” | Wired Tracks 8.14.15

Janelle Monae and the Wondaland camp are using their platform to do much more than drop tunes that rock a party. Today, the collective released “Talmbout,” a derivative of the ongoing discussion about racial injustice and police brutality in America.

The record serves as further testament to the #BlackLivesMatter movement, as Janelle, Deep Cotton, St. Beauty, Jidenna, Roman GianArthur, and George 2.0 mention the names of Sean Bell, Trayvon Martin, Eric Garner, Freddie Gray, Sandra Bland and more.

Per Wondaland Statement:

This song is a vessel. It carries the unbearable anguish of millions,” said Wondaland in a statement. “We recorded it to channel the pain, fear, and trauma caused by the ongoing slaughter of our brothers and sisters. We recorded it to challenge the indifference, disregard, and negligence of all who remain quiet about this issue. Silence is our enemy. Sound is our weapon. They say a question lives forever until it gets the answer it deserves… Won’t you say their names?

Lupe Fiasco “LAW (LoveAllWays),” Method Man ft. Raekwon & Inspectah Deck “The Purple Tape,” & More | Wired Tracks 8.5.15

After penning a hell of a manifesto that touched on the Meek Mill/Drake beef (and the perception of ghostwriting in Hip-Hop), Lupe Fiasco keeps the ink flowing on a new track titled “LAW (LoveAllWays).”

The song features soothing vocals from SimonSayz and production by Floss & Flame. Sonically, the record is a departure from much of the material heard on Tetsuo & Youth, but the Chicagorilla never takes a bar off as he waxes dexterous poetics describing the depths of his love.
