New Rules for the Music Industry

The music industry has changed, and it continues to shift. The traditional music industry was built on the world of physical shelf space, 12” pieces of vinyl, 5” circular pieces of plastic, the increasingly-irrelevant MTV, AM/FM radio, and analog television. All are gone or near gone, and so is the old world. The traditional music industry was not built for the world of digital downloads, on-demand streams, and unlimited digital shelf space where everything (and everyone) can be available with unlimited inventory on demand. The days of the major labels are over.   The “New Rules For The Music Industry” in this book originated as a TuneCore blog post, and we think these rules should last longer than the 80-year-or-so run of the traditional music industry. The rules in this book are accompanied by supporting articles, and are of value to those who will control the new music industry: the artist and the songwriter. You can read, comment and contribute to the conversation at the TuneCore blog. New Rules For The Music Industry: 1. Educate Yourself 2. Commercial Radio & MTV No Longer Singularly Break Bands 3. Marketing Does Not Always Equal Success 4. It’s Global 5. Take Action 6. Be Transparent 7. It’s About A Constant Stream Of Music & Media, Not A Once A Year Album Release 8. You Are Not Powerless 9. Define Your Goals Written by Jeff Price, TuneCore Founder/CEO, and George Howard, former president of Rykodisc and current advisor of numerous entertainment and non-entertainment firms and individuals. The newest film from George A. Romero (legendary creator of the Night of the Living Dead franchise) picks up where Diary of the Dead leaves off – in a nightmarish world where humans are the minority and the zombies rule. Off the coast of Delaware sits Plum Island, where two families are locked in a struggle for power. The O'Flynns approach the zombie plague with a shoot-to-kill attitude. The Muldoons feel that zombies should be quarantined and kept "alive" in hopes that a solution will someday be found.

Book #1 in the Purge of Babylon post-apocalyptic series. It all starts here. ______________________________ ONE NIGHT. THAT WAS ALL IT TOOK. Creatures that once lived in the shadows, hidden from humankind, have risen, spreading like a plague across the globe over the course of a single night. Their numbers growing exponentially through infection, these seemingly unkillable creatures have swallowed up whole cities and collapsed unprepared governments. Survivors call it The Purge. Against all odds, a disparate group of survivors has emerged from that blood-soaked night that devastated the planet and reduced humanity to an endangered species. Among the survivors are two ex-Army Rangers, a businesswoman, and a third-year medical student. But surviving The Purge was one thing – staying alive is another matter entirely. Hope exists in the countryside, in the form of a self-sustaining underground facility designed to withstand any calamity. But in order to reach its safety, the survivors must travel hundreds of treacherous miles, with the night – and the creatures that dwell within it – always at their backs. The rules are simple: stay out of the dark, load up on silver bullets, and whatever you do, STAY ALIVE. The road to salvation has begun …

‘Adrift’ showcases Shailene Woodley in harrowing survival tale

“Adrift” is a two-tiered throwback — a stirring, at times grueling portrait of survival, and an old-fashioned showcase for star-producer Shailene Woodley. It mostly works on both levels, although more casual film-goers might understandably opt to catch this TV-movie-style true story after it’s sailed out of theaters.

When the world falls, who will survive? Overview: In a single moment, everything changes. Hundreds of thousands of people suddenly collapse, leaving their friends and loved ones behind, terrified and confused.  Moments later, the fallen rise and the survivors become the hunted. Follow three intertwining stories through the apocalypse. Will Kessler works a dead-end warehouse job in Tennessee, driving a forklift and unloading shipping containers. When he wakes up from a nap during his lunch break, he finds most of his co-workers have mutated into monsters, and they have turned the 50,000 square foot building into a war zone, murdering any other survivors. Alone and weaponless, Will must fight through the undead horde to secure the building and answer one question: Is he truly alone? In Texas, Gabriel Alexander boards a plane, thinking he is heading back to his wife and daughter in Washington D.C. After his flight takes off, several passengers fall suddenly ill, sending the cabin into a panic. Soon, the sick passengers go on a rampage, attacking others on the plane, including the pilot. And with no one to fly the plane, it dives toward the ground, taking Gabriel and the start of the apocalypse with it. Jessica Davies runs the front desk of a hotel in the North Carolina mountains. It seems like another boring day of checking tourists into their rooms when she receives a call from a guest to bring them some aspirin. The elevator door opens, and Jessica is forced into a hell she could’ve never imagined.  Fans of post-apocalyptic horror…the end is here! Start this best-selling series now! Perfect for any fan of post-apocalyptic horror, dystopian science fiction, supernatural suspense, or the zombie apocalypse!

Daqin Guojin’s ruling caste has been manipulating S.A.T. scores for its dull-witted children, amassing a fortune in grooll and triggering a widespread famine. Mobb Deep Remixing “Survival Of The Fittest” For 2015 NBA Western Conference Finals

Mobb Deep’s honorary classic debut, The Infamous, turned 20-years-old last month and while the bone-chilling “Shook Ones Pt. II” has hogged all the credit these past two decades, there are plenty of other unforgettable records on the album.

NBA Countdown–co-hosted by unflinching Hip-Hop fan Jalen Rose–recognizes this and they have recruited The Mobb to remix song #3 in “Survival of the Fittest” for the upcoming 2015 NBA Western Conference Finals.

Reports ESPN:

Legendary hip-hop group Mobb Deep and ESPN have teamed up to create a special production open for NBA Countdown – ESPN’s NBA pre-game studio show – to debut during pre-game coverage of the 2015 NBA Western Conference Finals, exclusively on ESPN. Mobb Deep will lend a customized NBA remix of their classic track Survival Of The Fittest (1995) to NBA Countdown.

Mobb Deep:

“It is absolutely incredible that, on the 20th Anniversary of the recording of Survival Of The Fittest, the meaning of the song is as relevant as ever” says Prodigy. “We would like to thank ESPN for choosing our record and for making it the anthem of one of the most important U.S. sports events of the year” adds Havoc. “We were absolutely excited to deliver a remix version of this classic and a visual to accompany the opening of NBA Countdown.”

“When worst come to worst, my people’s come first.” Truer words have never been spoken Havoc. Get a dose of nostalgia with the “Survival of the Fittest” video down below and keep an eye out for that remix.
